How We Fail Technology is an old article I wrote in November of 2006.
After learning today the state of Ohio has volunteered me to be a victim of identity theft I updated the story to include recent events in Ohio from the summer of 2007.
In a nutshell I just can't understand why data is left on laptops or other portable devices in an era when remote access is so secure and prevalent.
In the computer rental business we have customers every day that rent laptops and use remote access to get to their sensitive data. Yet our government continues to put us at risk with their practices that run contrary to common sense.
